Sounds like a blast.
I took part in a small school concert at the end of last year that was pretty great, I just did a piano solo and a bit of classical guitar stuff, but just being there was great. The finale was a 12 or something minute long medley of the soundtracks from gladiator, lord of the rings and pirates of the carribean by the school band. A couple of kids painted some black screens with white paint on which the actual movies were projected.

The first part is very illustrative for those who haven't gigged before, I'm agree, there's always some things to fix just before the show begin and are the most of times extra-musical.
